Atlanta vacation costs: stay, eat, get around (2026)
MARTA from the airport and a walk from Ponce City Market to Krog Street Market are the cheap Atlanta. A hotel off the train means Ubers you will take twice, and Buckhead is a third fare.
Start here Ride MARTA from ATL to a Midtown Hampton, or get off for Hotel Clermont if the BeltLine is the evening. Mary Mac's or West Egg. Save the Aquarium or World of Coca-Cola for one morning, not both.
Who this is for
For
- People who will ride MARTA from ATL and walk the BeltLine Eastside
- Anyone who wants trail food and one ticketed morning
Not for
- Convention weeks if you came for the rate
- Anyone splitting Buckhead and the Aquarium hotel in three nights
Getting around
MARTA from the airport station reaches Midtown and Five Points on one fare. The BeltLine is a footpath, not a train. The Atlanta Streetcar does not substitute for that walk.
No rental
- MARTA from ATL is the honest airport move. A 1-day or 3-day pass if you will ride
- BeltLine Eastside Trail is the walk — Ponce City Market to Krog Street
- You do not need a car for Midtown + Ponce + the Aquarium
With a rental
- A planned Buckhead dinner or Stone Mountain, if you accepted the drive
- The Eastside Trail does not need the car
- Two rides a day from Cumberland erase the room rate
Where to stay
Hampton or Home2 in Midtown, or Hotel Clermont on Ponce, so the BeltLine is the evening. Four Seasons is the Midtown flagship. St. Regis Buckhead trades the trail for a different fare.
Budget
- Hampton Inn & Suites Atlanta-Midtown often about $130–200 a night before Atlanta’s 16.9% lodging tax. MARTA or a BeltLine walk.
- Home2 Suites Atlanta Downtown a kitchenette, often about $140–210. Skip a Cumberland cloverleaf.
- Holiday Inn Express Atlanta Downtown Centennial area, often about $130–200.
- Courtyard Atlanta Downtown often about $150–220, a walk to a MARTA stop.
Mid-range
- Hotel Clermont Ponce, often about $180–280 a night before the 16.9% lodging tax. The BeltLine and Ponce City Market are the evening.
- Hyatt Regency Atlanta Downtown, often about $180–280.
- Hilton Atlanta the convention campus, often about $170–270. Read the convention calendar first.
- The Westin Peachtree Plaza often about $180–300. This is not a Buckhead commute.
Splurge
- Four Seasons Hotel Atlanta Midtown, often about $400–700 a night.
- St. Regis Atlanta Buckhead, often about $400–700. You traded the BeltLine walk.
- Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead often about $300–550. Same trade.

Where to eat
West Egg or a café, then Mary Mac’s. Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q if you are on the trail. Staplehouse or Bacchanalia once. Bones is a Buckhead ride.
Budget
- West Egg Cafe breakfast often about $12–18. Not the hotel.
- Mary Mac's Tea Room a meat-and-three often about $16–25.
- Ponce City Market a counter often about $14–20.
- Krog Street Market the other end of the trail, stalls in the same $14–20 range.
Mid-range

- A BeltLine sit-down often about $25–45 a person, if you are already on the trail.

- A Midtown cafe lunch about $15 — not a Buckhead steakhouse ride.
Splurge
- Miller Union often about $50–90 a person. The Westside Splurge.
- Bones a Buckhead steakhouse, often about $80 and up a person, plus the rideshare.
- Bacchanalia a tasting that often runs about $100 and up. One night.
- A hotel steak Downtown prices for a plate Fox Bros. sells for about $20.

Ride MARTA from the airport, then walk the BeltLine
Top money-saving tips
- Hidden gem: MARTA from ATL to Midtown is one fare. A Cumberland hotel still owes two rides a day, which is the room you thought you saved.
- Hidden gem: The Atlanta Streetcar is not the BeltLine. Ponce City Market through Inman Park to Krog Street Market is a walk with no admission. A streetcar loop does not buy that path.
- Hidden gem: Georgia Aquarium tickets and World of Coca-Cola tickets are separate products. A city pass only helps if you will finish both. Piedmont Park and the MLK National Historical Park do not need either.
- Read the convention calendar before an Atlanta Marriott Marquis rate looks like the normal week.
- Fox Bros. or Mary Mac's. Bones is a Buckhead ride the trail did not require.
Next step
Midtown or Ponce on MARTA. One ticketed morning in the Atlanta Trip Plan. Buckhead is a different fare.
