Both big Orlando Halloween events are already selling tickets, and both of them price by the calendar the same way flights do. Pick the wrong night and you can end up paying close to double for the same haunted house or the same parade.

Halloween Horror Nights pricing

Single-night tickets at Universal's Halloween Horror Nights range from about $88 on the cheapest weeknights in early September up to $131 on the busiest October Saturdays. Opening weekend, August 28th through 30th, actually isn't the cheapest option at $114 a ticket. The real deal is the Wednesday and Thursday nights right after opening week, several of which are sitting at $88.

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party pricing

Disney's party runs the same way in reverse, starting cheap and climbing every week. August dates start at $119, most of September sits between $149 and $184, and October climbs from $189 up to $229 on Halloween night itself. A handful of the cheapest August dates have already sold out.

The real math for a family of four

For Halloween Horror Nights, the gap between the cheapest weeknight and the most expensive October Saturday is about $43 per person. For a family of four, that's over $170 just from picking the wrong Saturday.

For Mickey's Not So Scary, the swing is even bigger. The gap between an early August date and Halloween night itself is $110 per adult, which comes out to over $400 for a family of four choosing the same event on the wrong night.

Extra costs people forget

Parking at Universal during Halloween Horror Nights runs full price, $32 for regular self-parking or $60 for preferred, until midnight. Express Pass for the event starts at $169.99 and climbs fast depending on the night.

For Mickey's Not So Scary, Annual Passholders and DVC members save $10 a ticket on select nights, and the party ticket alone gets you into Magic Kingdom starting at 4pm. No separate daytime park ticket is required.

Four ways to save on either event

Pick a Wednesday or Thursday in early September for Horror Nights. That's where the actual $88 tickets are sitting right now, not opening weekend.

Go early for Mickey's Not So Scary if you can. August and early September dates run $50 to $80 cheaper per person than the same event in October, even though the party content barely changes week to week.

Skip Express Pass unless the wait times actually matter to you. It's the single biggest add-on cost at Horror Nights, and the event runs until 2am, so most nights there's more time than people expect to just wait it out.

Pick one event instead of splitting your budget across both. Both cost real money on top of an already expensive trip. Most families get more out of doing one event well than splitting the budget across two.
